1st Caringbah Scouts

What better way to finish a day after school/work?  We headed out to the deserted beach of Towra Point armed with 23 Venturer Scouts, 2 jet skis, a couple of speed boats, a BBQ, grub and soft drinks – MUCH FUN.  It’s amazing how fast these things go (videos to come).  Thanks go to Jake M for organising half of the night and Guy  for organising the other half of the night.  Another great night.

The Vennies headed to Newnes to enjoy some awesome Canyoning along Sheep Dip and then Rocky Creek.  We walked and swam through some of the most beautiful places imaginable – it was like stumbling into the lost city   All this for only $20 when it costs $170 to do commercially!  Thanks goes to Rusty for organising and Greg Langton for leading it.

1st Caringbah Venturers headed out to the Olympic White water Stadium to enjoy an evening of awesome high adrenalin white water rafting.  Well done Caitlin Crowther and Rafiki for organising it

1st Caringbah and 1st Lilli Pilli Venturer Scouts headed out to a secret location to take on their first survival weekend.  Crowther coaches very kindly drove us to this “secret location” which turned out to be a bush camp location at Carrington Falls, 2 hrs South of Sydney.  The Venturers enjoyed and endured a weekend of living on rice and having to earn better food through challenges, sleeping under bivvy sheets with no bed rolls, plus lighting fires with fire steel, steel wool, magnifying glasses, rubbing sticks together.  They swim races and did underwater breath holding in icy cold waters and humanely and respectfully catching and preparing chickens for dinner. All in all a great weekend. THANKS Moose and the rest of the leaders for organising such a great camp.

Rotary Presentation

1st Caringbah were invited to form the colour party for flag presentation at the local District Rotary meeting, of 200 delegates,  at the Novotel, Olympic Park on Saturday Oct 29th. The scouts James, Maddie, Jack and Julian performed very professionally, making Badger feel very proud of them all.

Chris Beauchamp  embarked on the most amazing journey of his life enjoying the 22nd World Jamboree in Sweden.  He is also enjoyed a tour where he will stay with a Swedish family and also headed into the Arctic circle.  Chris has worked very hard raising $3200 towards this camp and it looks like he had an excellent time.

It’s been a long time since we did this but 1^st Caringbah Venturer Scouts are opening our doors to newcomers at the District Venturer Open Night on 19^th Sep 2011. We would prefer ex Scouts or Ranger Guides but open to anyone with a sense of adventure so if you know anyone who will suit our unit then let them know.  Contact jason.juretic@gmail.com or 0402 320 940 for more details

Our Vennies laid on a Talent Show for the Cubs and Joeys with lots of fun stuff including, juggling, traditional aboriginal dance and didgeridoo, dancing, uni-cycling, guitar, co-ordination tests and much more.  BRAVO one and all and especially Laura for organising the night.

Last Monday Night we were meant to go Ice Skating but due the centre not being open Darcie, had to organise something else. Darcie and Doona came up with the idea of a Mexican Night, wear your ponchos and sombreros. We had to go out and do a camera chase. And NO Vehicles were allowed. Here are just some Photos and Videos of us Vennies eating Red and Green Hot Chilli’s. Once again Darcie and Doona you pulled it off. It is great that they can come up with Ideas just like that.
