1st Caringbah reformed a Venturer Unit in February 2010. Due to the popularity of our unit we are now full with over 25 Venturers and operating a waiting list so if you want to join us, let us know and we will add you to the list or better still you could join another unit in our local area like Gymea, Lilli Pilli or 2nd Caringbah.
Venturers are for young men and women aged 14.5 years to 18 years.
Venturers is a do-it-yourself mix of fun, adventure and personal challenge that will bring you together with other young people who feel the same way.
You may find yourself exploring wilderness Australia, camping above the snowline or diving on coral reefs. You could be abseiling into a limetone cave or climbing a sheer rock face. Perhaps you’ll be learning windsurfing, white water kayaking. kitesurfing or ride your mountain bike across real mountains. This is all possible with 1st Caringbah Venturers.
- Leadership
Our Venturer Unit is led by 3 Adult Leaders, Jason “Baggy” Juretic, Eric “Rafiki” Clark , Paul Crowther and support by parent helper Donna “Doona” Camkin.

Activities
The Venturer Scouts create their own program with emphasis placed on getting outdoors and adventurous so as to expand their comfort zones, stretch their limits, build self esteem and confidence and enable them to face life’s challenges.
To name just some of our activities, they include canyoning, trekking, ski0ing, snow boarding, abseiling, sailing windsurfing, gliding, surfing, rafting, kayaking, caving and rock climbing. The physical and mental challenges along the way help teens transition into adulthood. We have seen Young men and women end their time in Venturers with a new outlook, self confidence and improved leadership skills. Completing the Award Scheme and Duke of Edinbugh scheme is a great achievement and can be beneficial in the search of employment. Add the Duke of Edinburgh Gold or Queens Scout to your resume or CV and have the adventure of a lifetime!
For an insight into the activities our Venturers have enjoyed, check out our activities gallery for a taste of what we have done and check out the gallery below for our 4 year plan 2010 to 2014
