Venturers Macquarie Pass Canyoning – Dec 10

1st Caringbah Venturers headed 1.5 hrs South to Macquarie Pass to enjoy some Canyoning led by Greg and Luke from 1st Loftus.  Due to the high levels of rainfall last week we had to hike and bush bash for a lot longer to get in, but it was worth the effort.  We had so much FUN abseiling and enjoying the waterfall.  We are looking forward to the next trip.

Check out our facebook for the banter and Chris Me will be posting a full 300 word report this week

Group Snow Camp – Jul 10

Group Snow Camp – Jul 10

1st Caringbah Venturers and Scouts headed out to the Snowy Mountains to enjoy a Snow Camp that will be remembered forever! We snow shoed up through the clouds close to Mt Kosciusko, dug ourselves some snow caves (whilst weathering a -16oC wind chill factor), slept in the snow caves, enjoyed a fantastic morning air boarding (so muc…h fun), snow shoed back down to Thredbo, joined the rest of the 42 strong 1st Caringbah group to ski and snowboard over the weekend, enjoyed some EXCELLENT night skiing and wrapped up with snow tubing. Sooooo much adventure and so much FUN. Full report (from Matt) coming soon. I’m really looking forward to the next trip! A BIG THANKS goes to Bruce Easton from Wilderness sports in Jindabyne who oversaw all safety aspects of this camp – he did an excellent job.  Baggy

Venturer Unit to be reformed

It is with great pleasure that we officially announce the reformation of the 1st Caringbah Venturer unit for youth aged between 14.5 and 17 yrs old.

Our first night will be Friday 5th Feb 2010 at our Castlenau Scout Group Hall – 7pm to 10pm.

Our plan is to enjoy a very adventurous program over the next 3 to 4 years which the Venturer members will plan themselves  together with help from our enthusiastic leaders.  It will be great to see these youth members independence and leadership skills develop as they continue to move from the virtual world of Xbox, playstation, TV and DVD’s and into the exciting real world of:

  • Canyoning,
  • flying solo in a glider
  • white water raft the Nymboida river
  • Hiking the historic 6 foot track
  • sailing,
  • kayaking,
  • rock climbing
  • windsurfing
  • parachuting/sky diving
  • attending world Jamboree in Sweden
  • Visiting Africa, climbing Kilimanjaro, building a community centre, visiting a game park
  • Attending the Venturer Camp in New Zealand to zorb, black water raft and much more

All the above are planned and not promised, it all comes down to whether our Venturers want to make it happen!
