Chris, Dunc, Nathan and Jess joined 16 other Venturers from NSW to attend the Venturer Leadership Course at Heathcote. Many skills of leadership were learned and good friendships made to boot.

Scout Canoe Camp – Sep 10

Wow what a weekend we had at canoe camp.  20 scouts, 10 parents, and 6 leaders, set off on our annual adventure to find new water to canoe and kayak on.  The days were perfect with sunshine the first day and the perfect temperature with cloud cover the second day.  We paddled 26km over 2 days – great work scouts – this will go towards your ”out and about” badge awards.  See some photos here but many more to be put on the web site and facebook shortly.  Thanks to Barra and Badger for the overseeing and safety aspects, Kolo for the camp coordination and transport shuffles, Dingo/Tony/Gary for the transporting of all the gear.  Fantastic weekend.  For those that did not attend, stay tuned for next year – we are already working on a plan!!

Cubs Billy Kart Derby – Sep 10

Sunday 12th September saw lots of action at Miranda Park as 1st Caringbah Cubs battled other cub groups in our region in a Billy Cart Derby! We were represented by a wide variety of billy carts and lots of enthusiastic cubs.

The end result was lots of fun as well as third prize overall, and first place for the best looking billy cart to Anton. Well done Cubs, and thanks to our Leaders who helped build the billy carts and cheer us on!

Group members on “Today Show”

It was an early start on a Sunday morning for the Hingerty family of Shaun (Dad), Ronan (Scout), Amy (Cub) and Bella (Joey) who attended the promotion of the new Scouts slogan “Be Prepared For New Adventure” at Martin Place by climbing up a mobile rock climbing wall.  Channel 9 captured the event and here is the news clipping which was played on their Sunday program.
