Try Scouts Night – 3rd June 2010

Hi All,

Let all your mates and their parents know we are having a “try scouts” night on Thursday 3rd June 2010 at
2 Castlenau St, Caringbah.

We have 6 places becoming available for 10.5 to 14.5 year old girls and boys very soon as our Scouts go up to the next age group (Venturers).

Check out the following pics to see some of the amazing stuff we get up to – alpine skiing/snowboarding, gliding, sailing, canoeing, camping, horse riding, abseiling and waterskiing (to name just a few).   We don’t just talk about, WE DO IT.

So if you want real adventure and FUN then come and try out Scouts.

Scouterer Camp – May 10

WOW, what an EXCELLENT weekend the Venturers and the Senior Scouts had at Bungonia State Conservation Park this weekend. We enjoyed some great abseiling and caving with our skill levels being taken to the next level. The pictures speak for themselves. The tent sauna went down very well too!

Thanks goes to Nathan and Matt (Chairman and Vice Chairman) for organising the 1st Caringbah youth members and equipment with the able support of Barra, Rafiki, Tink and Leopard Head 🙂

A HUGE thanks goes to Craig Chantler of 2nd Caringbah for organising the whole camp plus all the other activity leaders who gave up their precious time to make this weekend awesome weekend .

Until next year

Scouts Master Chef – May 10

Our Chf Scouts wowed us tonight by cooking up a storm. View their masterpieces above.  Wel done to Jess J an Salty for organising the night.

Venturers Master Chef – May 10

Some of our Venturers amazed us tonight – especially Chris and Jake with some excellent cuisine. Others turned out some dodgy looking stuff too – a FUN night.

Leaders get plastered at Joeys

On the 14th of May 2010, we had a Joey first aid night. We started off with an investiture ceremony for Jonathon and Riley and welcomed them to 1st Caringbah.

We had a bandaid relay game where Badger and Eagleray got covered in plasters by the Joeys.

Possum was biten by a (plastic) snake, and the Joeys helped Eagleray treat her.

The Joeys learnt about little and big accidents and when to call 000.

Jamboree on the Trail – May 10

Dingo selected the Bungoona Trail – Grays Point to Royal National Park – it is graded as “easy” and is 3.3km in length + return on a beautifl 24oC day

Jamboree on the Trail is an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together. All Scouts, whatever their age and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can.  In their own way, everyone will be hiking the same direction: towards a better future through Scouting. JOTT is held on the second Saturday of May each year.

It was great fun and good exercise

CONGRATULATIONS to all the scouts who competed in the ScoutHike 2010 lightweight camping competition this weekend.  We asked for you to have FUN and do your best and a majority of you did this – excellent.  We are making a fantastic habit of bettering our results in each competition we enter and this was no exception with our scouts bettering last years results with a 1st, 3rd, 12th, 19th and a top 50% placing for our youngest team.  This was against nearly 200 teams and 1000 scouts from all-round NSW.  This is the first time a team from South Met region has taken out this competition from the Sydney North Region – happy days J.

The results in detail were:

1st – The Kanga Nangas – Vivien (PL), Darce (APL), Beth and Emerson (19.4km)

3rd  – Speedy Turtles – Jess (PL), Aaron (APL), Kai, Charlee, Ryan, Nick (19.7km)

12th – Team Tomatoes – Dunc (PL), Jake (APL), Steven and Travis (16.5km)

19th – Cam M (PL), Thomas (APL), Laura, Megan, Perry and Ronan (16.6km)

Top 50% – Kara (PL), Leonie (APL), Emilie, Caitlan, Holly, Trish, Maddie (9.7km)

A truly excellent all round result, with lots of new skills and badge work signed off!  Viv and her team also scored the 3rd highest result in the last 12 years – history makers J.

All the results can be viewed at www.scouthike.com

BRAVO all, it just goes to show that “being prepared” works, all our training paid off.  Things look very good for the BIG ONE – State Rally in August.

Baggy
