Scouts Ballantyne Flag – Feb 10

12 patrols and over 70 members of the Port Hacking District headed to Camp Coutts to compete in the highly contested Ballantyne Flag competition Camp and we had an excellent time.  This weekend is known for the sense of fun and socialising that is enjoyed by Scouts and Leaders alike.  We were lucky with the weather delivering a couple of warm to hot days and not a place to disappoint, Camp Coutts even laid on some rain to cool us down just as we were packing up!  Highlights of the weekend were undoubtedly the excellent activities and especially the one run by 2nd Caringbah involving spud guns, jelly beans and cream – the photos do the talking J  Other enjoyable experiences were the hike to and swim in the delightfully cool Kingfisher pools plus the Saturday night campfire was a blast with many patrols laying on skits and all of us singing until our voices hurt.

This competition has been running for over 50 years and patrols as well as Patrol Leaders work hard to win one of the 3 coveted trophies up for grabs.  A huge BRAVO goes to Lloyd from 1st Sutherland and Aaron from 1st Oyster Bay and their patrols on jointly winning the Teamwork Trophy, Jessica from 1st Caringbah on winning the Patrol Leader Shield and Duncan and his hardworking 1st Caringbah patrol of Jake, Perry and Ronan for winning the Ballantyne Flag for best camp craft.

Thanks to everyone for joining in with such enthusiasm and especially the leaders for giving up their valuable time this weekend.  And of course BRAVO Dingo for organising this camp.

See you all there next year.
