1st Caringbah Rogaining Challenge
Sunday 23 August 2009
The 2009 event will be held in the bushland just west of Menai in the Mill Creek Valley. The start/finish point will be the 1st Menai/Alfords Point Scout Hall in Treloar Place Menai This 3 hour event is suitable for all skill levels from beginners to experts. It is geared primarily for scouts but venturers and cubs are encouraged to join in also.
It is a ready made half day program for your troop. All you have to do is read the instructions below and join in the fun.
I am hoping for about 100 competitors from all over the city. The more people involved the better the program works.
The map of the actual course will only be available on the morning of the event. No-one except the organisers will know the details of the course until the maps are issued on the day.
Even if you have never tried anything like this before, it’s ok. Lots of handy hints and advice will be available at the start…. Enjoy!!
Don’t forget your team’s first aid kit (shock blanket and elastic bandage) for your 10 bonus points

Please also note rule changes and clarifications.
- All teams have min of 3 and max of 5 members
- A minimum 2:1 scout to adult ratio will apply
- Minimum team was 1 adult 1 scout. Now 1 adult 2 scouts
- At the discretion of the scout leader a scout team can go WITHOUT a adult (leader or parent). In this case the minimum team will be 3 and maximum 5 scouts. I suggest this will only apply to oldest and most experience scouts. The normal team will be 1 adult and 2 to 4 scouts
- All-adult teams are also permitted but they will be deemed non-competitive ie they will be scored but no award should they win
